Weigh In Week 12 - The Plateau And Dr. Seuss

Karen sends her updates from Burbank, CA

0 pounds lost this week
Goal: Lose 35 pounds in 6 months the French Skinny Way.
Total lost so far: 14 pounds

When I started this little experiment I was afraid of the plateaus. I had a feeling it would happen and this is the first one. I lost a good deal of weight in the very beginning by eating foods with no preservatives like freshly baked bread, fruits, vegetables and making my own crepes. I eat pretty clean (except for the crazy chips and salsa fiasco a few weeks ago).
I don't ever want to be on a diet again.

Perusing Shaboom's menues I decide to have potatoes, eggs with cheese, green onions, juicy watermelon, and a little Dr. Seuss.

There was a big salad for lunch.
Crepes with ham and gruyere for dinner.

40 flights of stairs.
2 mile walk.

As I drift off to sleep this night I remember the encouraging words I read today.

"And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed!"
-Dr. Suess.

And he should know.

Day 84 from France:
Free = Bad News

Shaboom
sends us her update from Paris SoCal...

I started the day at Starbucks before work. Triple Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte at 140 degrees please!

Fast and friendly service. *swoon* Almost forgot what that was...

Then lunch was at the commissary. Wow. What a selection. Personal chefs. Yum.

I had pasta, garlic bread, salad, cappuccino fro-yo with butterfinger crumbles, rice krispies treats and a Dr. Pepper. I CAN'T HELP IT. It was almost like it was free.

Note to self - free does not mean try to supplement your income by gorging on as much as humanly possible before you explode. This could quickly turn into what Karen likes to call a shame spiral. I'd like to glam it up a little. THE SHAME SPIRAL OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTION. I'm still working on it. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Happy Sunday:
Karen Rocks

Although this won't happen for about another 6 months in blog-time, it is Karen's birthday in real time!!! And here most of you thought it was just Labor Day Weekend!

If I was there, I'd throw Karen a tea party with TONS of macaron and pain au chocolat! And all the gifts would be cute shoes and magic pants!!!

Joyeux Dimanche!

Happy Birthday Karen!

Karen - Day 83 - My New Fast Food

Karen sends her updates from Burbank, CA

Woke up at 5:oo AM Starving. I'm going to be rushing around all day and have to come up with some fast food choices.

After 40 flights of stairs I am starving again.
Fresh bread with tomatoes, goat cheese parmesan and butter.
5 minutes to make.
Then I'm rushing out the door for a few appointments.

This is from a little cafe I randomly found. Chicken pesto wrap with fruit.

Once home I steam my artichoke. I picked up a roasted chicken at the market and made some mashed potatoes to go with it. 45 minutes to cook the artichoke and make the potatoes. Not bad.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Day 83 from France:
Move Slowly, Carry Big Stick

Shaboom
sends us her update from Paris SoCal...

I started the day off with my usual pot of coffee.

Then I decided to make cheesy ham and egg goodness before heading off to WORK!

I love working. I love having purpose, and something to do, and seeing people daily with whom I have something in common.

It's been about 2 weeks since I left Paris and I have to go back in about 2 weeks. Obsessed! has been more relaxed than normal during my absence. I finally talked to him last night. I think I kind of miss him a little. I do love him, just sometimes he's too intense for me. It freaks me out. I'm not ready for this yet.

Karen's Day 82 From Burbank: Girl Talk

Shaboom showed up drinking a Rock Star drink. I don't judge. I just watch her like a scientist. She really does eat and drink whatever she wants. There are no restrictions.....
Hubby made her a lovely breakfast and then it was off to Lisa's house. Lisa makes the best coffee and has the prettiest things. That is her coffee cup and creamer. Pretty. Pretty. Pretty.
There was a lot of girl talk......and coffee. We were AMP'd!
I went home and cleaned the house top to bottom while adding another wing to the house and learning Chinese. Yeah, it was a lot of coffee.
I think I was up until 11:00! Crazy......but so worth it.

Day 82 from France:
Happy Hour

Shaboom sends us her update from Paris SoCal...

I got up early and made myself a pot of coffee before dressing for the arctic because I had to drive to Karen's with my top down and it was raining. Fun times.

Karen's hubby made me a DELICIOUS breakfast. I drank a Rockstar with my breakfast and no one judged me. I just wanted to stay there forever. But Karen and I had plans! Off to Smacksy's with 4 and we got to drink lots lots lots of coffee.

We had a nice morning. It was fun watching the two boys play and share and negotiate between themselves. I can't imagine having a child but watching these two fantastic moms balance it with ease gave me less fear of trying.

Smacksy showed me lots of photos of her and Karen when they were pregnant. They were so cute but OMG how does your belly stretch that much?! And yup, that freaked me right back out of any fond notions of having a baby.

Then I got to look at some of their baby photos. Okay, fond notions seeping back in ...a little.

Work, blah blah.
Meeting, blah blah.
HAPPY HOUR!

BadAss and I had a fun time. We ate, drank and were merry. Then I drove back to the beach to chat a little with ManEater and then we went to bed.
