Breakfast- Quinoa

Quinoa with sun dried tomatoes in olive oil, pine nuts, goat cheese and cayenne pepper.
aka
Breakfast

This is so good. I'm eating and writing (which is not very French!) okay wait.....
Two minutes later: Done...What do you expect?! It's delicious and it was only half a ramekin! Anyway, back to the Quinoa, little bits my favorite things. I have to go to the store so I had to use what I had.

White Quinoa
A Tablespoon of sun dried tomatoes in olive oil from a jar.
A Tablespoon of dry roasted pine nuts.
Goat Cheese for creaminess.
Cayenne Pepper and a little Black Pepper for a kick.

It's sweet and crunch and creamy and spicy.

The perfect breakfast after my French Skinny walk.

Today is the fourth day walking four miles a day. I thought I was in shape until I started walking 4 miles a day. Why would I think I was in shape? I have no idea, I really didn't think my legs and shins would hurt going from two miles a day to four miles a day. I started Monday. The next morning was the worst. No, actually Wednesday was pretty bad too. But today it feels better. I'm sleeping better also. I'll be working through lunch so we'll see if this takes me to dinner. Lots of water. Lots.

-----------------------------------------

One good thing a day for a year:

Monday: Starting my 4 miles a day!

Tuesday: After walking 4 miles this is the best pineapple I've ever had.

Wednesday: I sure am lucky to be walking 4 miles even if my legs are KILLING me.

Thursday: Quinoa Breakfast!

In Case of Emergency: Whipped Cream

5 and I are home from our week at Grandma Dee's house.

I hit the ground running yesterday with 2 appointments and book club. We read Tina Fey's Bossypants for the book club. I loved it. Smacksy hosted it at her house and everything was gorgeous and perfect. Her husband and little boy came home before we were finished and this is what happened. "Spies"

This morning I woke up and the cupboards were bare. I couldn't quite get it together to go to the store at 6:30 AM for supplies so I decided to pretend we were camping and "make do".

For breakfast, I managed to find a single frozen Trader Joe's waffle for 5.
I found a random can of whipped cream in the door of the fridge so I dressed up the waffle a little and then used it in my coffee. Talk about roughing it!
This happened once before and I believe it was Mrs. Moon who commented that sometimes we have to settle for the best.

I read this post by Sarcastic Bastard this morning and it made me laugh for 10 minutes. SB curses just a little. I love an honest rant.

Then I went over to The Rich Life (on a budget) and was inspired to make lavender bath salts.

Happy Camping.

French Skinny Potluck.

This month, Smacksy's potluck theme was little bites of food.
Very French Skinny, no?

This was delicious.
Tomatoes, squash and veggies with fresh parmesan on top.

Ciseaux de raisin. Tre fantastique!

I knew most of the guests.
But was introduced to this handsome guy.

Meet Bob's robot.
If you'd like to know what he eats, check it out here.

I bought these at Yummy Cupcakes.
They disappeared.

Weigh In Week 21

Photos by Karen at French Skinny

Weigh In Week 21
Goal: Lose 35 pounds in 6 months the French Skinny Way.
Lost 1.5 pounds this week.
Total lost so far: 26 pounds

I can't believe I lost weight at Grandma Dee's house. I usually come home 5 pounds heavier. NEVER have I spent a week there and lost weight. Yay. I probably would have lost more if it hadn't been for all the game nights. But then I would have missed some of the warmest memories I've ever had with my family. The FSE is about living a full and wonderful life, denying myself nothing. Ever. And, apparently, never wearing a hair scrunchie again.

I took all of these pictures at Smacksy's delightful pot luck dinner.

What to pick?

A litte of anything I want of course!

9 pounds to go.

I have to eat some key lime pie now.
