Karen - Day 103 - Not Thinking About It

Just a little recap.

Shaboom: In Southern California, working for a CRAZY person 24/7. She's taking the classy road and not talking about it at all. Instead she's posting beautiful pictures of Paris for the next few days.

I'm on Day 5 of my New, New Plan. Walking 8 miles a day and going up and down 80 flights of stairs. Yesterday's beach day with Hubby and 4 has reinvigorated me.
I have to say that this feels like a job now.
Doing this much exercise takes a lot of time. And believe me when I say I have stopped trying to get motivated. I just grab my ipod and head out the door. For the next week or so Hubby's off work so he's hanging out with 4. I really have no idea how I'm going to incorporate this into my life when he's gone. But I'm not worrying about that now, just sticking to the New, New Plan.

My 8 miles included a trip to Starbucks for a latte. Then a stop at a bakery for a croissant. It's so early I feel a little like a freak. Not thinking about it. This is not really what I had in mind when I started this. Not thinking about it. The laundry needs to be done. Not thinking about it. I wonder what the guys are doing? Not thinking about it.

Lunch was fresh baguette with cheese.

Hubby and 4 had gone to the store and brought home goodies.

That night Hubby made dinner. There's cheese on top and inside the grilled burger. He used some baguette for a bun.

I ATE IT ALL.

It will be interesting to see what happens at the end of this week.
I don't feel any thinner. Just tired, hungry and grumpy. Not thinking about it......

Much.

Bon Appétit.

Karen - Day 102 - Surf's Up

It's Day 4 of my 8 miles and 80 flights of stairs.
I'm starting to move beyond the pain. (Translation=One Gallon of Coffee+Ibuprofen every 4 hours) And boy, am I getting to know Burbank.

Hubby suggests going to the beach.
It was an incredibly beautiful day.
I watched my guys run down the beach together.
Kick sand into the ocean.
Make a sandcastle.
Simple things families do at the beach. Important things.
I ran down the beach with 4. But not to clock my time or lose weight. Just because it was fun.
Hubby took us to lunch. A cup of Clam Chowder and some Crab Cakes.

Dinner was chicken and veggies.

I'm not sure how many flights of stairs I did or how many miles.
Isn't that wonderful?

HOLY MOTHER OF........ -Day 101 - Karen

Karen sends her posts from Burbank, CA

My eyes open.
Good morning world.
What a beautiful........HOLY MOTHER OF AHHHH I'M SORE!
Every muscle is sore.
EVERY MUSCLE IS SORE.
I try to get out of bed. I can't move.

"Mommy!!!!! Can Hedgehog play for a minute?"

Yes, the Hedgehog puppet is still 4's favorite. I am the voice of Hedgehog. This goes on for an hour while I lie in bed.
Hubby brings me coffee because I'm incapable of it this morning.

Hubby: "You're crazy. Just take a break today."

After knowing me for 13 years and thinking I would actually do that makes me smile.
Why does it hurt when I smile?
I finally get up, eat the above breakfast. All of it. Power down some Advil and I'm on my way.

80 flights of stairs. (By sheer will)

Hubby shakes his head as I head off for my 8 mile walk. He and 4 are going to go do something fun.

Day 3 of the 8 miles and 80 flights of stairs New, New Plan feels kind of lonely. I'm not used to spending this much time alone.

I get home and the guys are still gone.
I make more of the above baguette with mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and Basil from Grandma Dee's garden. I eat it all. Then have some chocolate.
The next couple of hours are spent in front of the T.V. watching a chick flick.

When the guys get home, 4 gets Hedgehog and snuggles with me. He doesn't want to talk to me just to Hedgehog. I try not to take this personally. (I know)

It's so hot in Burbank we decide not to cook dinner. Hubby got some chicken salad, potato salad and pita bread from the deli.
Yeah, it kind of tasted like this too. Bland.

Later that night I have some bread and cheese.
Needless to say I'm keeping Advil in business.
