Last Week of FSE!

Celebrate
Photo by Karen at French Skinny

We are getting ready to celebrate the last week of FSE! Party hats, horns and pinwheels are standing by.

Chocolate croissants. Pasta. Bread with butter. Anything I want............This is my new normal.

Today was coffee for breakfast.
Lunch was sweet potato fries with mayo.
Dinner was a pork chop with green beans and a few slices of baguette with butter.

I'm into baking this week. Cupcakes. Blueberry muffins. Bread. But I have to say "I'm just not into eating it." So my neighbors benefit from my new found passion.

You know what's super fun? Give all the kids in your neighborhood party horns.

Party On!

  1. I have to say that I'm struggling to reach your level of "enlightenment." I had 2 weeks of good FS eating, with the attitude that I could eat whatever I wanted, but only small amounts. Then, I had a couple of rough weeks, where I was feeling deprived... and then I rebelled and ate crap. (there was also the matter of my inlaws staying with us for 4 days, and I tend to use food as a coping mechanism.)

Now, I'm struggling to make progress again, but I find my attitude is to "limit, limit, limit" in an unhealthy way. Urg.

My question(s): Do you ever just crave "something" all day long? Do you ever crave a BIG meal, so that you're not feeling on-the-edge-of-hunger all the time? Do you ever use food to cope, or is that just me?

  2. Awww Karen, sounds like you've had a rough couple of weeks. I think almost everyone uses food as a coping method. It just makes us feel better. If I'm craving something I just go ahead and eat it. Always mindful of what I'm eating and that we really only "taste for flavor for about 4 bites." I do crave BIG meals. It's good to be hungry and eat with passion. But remember that it only takes 3 days for your stomach to get used to FS portions. So even if I crave a big meal I'm uncomfortably full if I try to eat it all.
My kryptonite is chips and salsa and chips and dip. I will always go overboard with these as these are my "comfort" food.
Be gentle with yourself. This is not a diet. Remember that it only takes 3 days to get your stomach back to the FS portions. There is no limit. Try to do something else that you love if you are stressed. A hot bath. A walk to the store. Read a book.
If you are hungry eat. If you are eating to feel better you're taking all the joy and passion out of the experience. Do something else to make you feel better then enjoy with abandon.

You can do this. It took me months to get it. You're already ahead of the game.

    Go Team!
