Day 5 from Burbank:
Jam and a Happy Hubby

I ate 2 eggs and a half a piece of toast. The rest of the eggs and toast was devoured by my son and dog.
The granola with yogurt and dark chocolate chips I saved for lunch with an apple.

"Blueberry Lemon Preserves."
Made by my amazing friend, Jennifer.
In her kitchen.
From scratch.
They are as delicious as they look.
Love her.

Shaboom from France emailed today. She forgot about the subway stairs. "Miles and miles of them."

Here's my new goal of physical activity to strive for everyday:
40 flights of stairs

2 to 4 miles of walking

"Indoor cardio" with Hubby (There's no way I'll ever catch up to Shaboom's Olympic marathons. She wins the gold medal. But it's fun trying.)

Confession
Shaboom has been having baguettes all week. I just couldn't do it. Too scary.
Today was the day to conquer that fear.
True story.
I walked in and bravely bought a freshly baked, still warm baguette. Brought it home. Pulled it out of the crispy paper wrapper. Cut a huge piece and slathered on the butter. But then I faltered..... my cheeks turned red and I got lightheaded. I felt like I was cheating on my protein shakes. I knew my protein powder, that is still sitting in the cupboard, somehow knew. Protein powder told Magic Bullet. They were staring and judging me. I closed my eyes and silently sent them a message "It's just 6 months. This probably wont work. It's just a little experiment. I know it's crazy! Please don't watch me eat this!" Then I opened my eyes and proceeded to eat the whole thing.
It's not easy being French.

After realizing my French experiment did not include letting my armpit hair grow, Hubby is now completely on board.
In fact he's smiling all the time.
In fact he actually giggled today.

  7. Thanks Laura! I am holding on to my jar like a marine in a fox hole with one grenade left. So I will ask my friend, Jennifer, if she will give me her super secret recipe.
    So good.

  8. I think I'm in love with you and as a result may have to follow in lead, well at least as far as the baguette is concerned. Hold on? "What?!, Nothing!" sorry, it was my protein powder, I think he heard me writing this, dammit!

  9. J'taime Bernthis!
Be strong. You might have to start out with a croissant first. For some reason Protein Powder doesn't feel so threatened by this.
I'm also going to ask Shaboom how one might cuss out Protein Powder in French. Just in case I have to use some tough love.
