Today I leave for New York and Hubby comes home from Vegas. We will miss each other by one hour. I'm driving 3 to Aunt Bonnie's house to hang out until Hubby comes home. Thank you again, Aunt Bonnie.
From the back seat 3 says....
3: Momma?
Me: Yes?
3: I have to tell you something.
(I take a deep breath.)
Me: What's that, sweetie?
3: You know I love you with all my heart?
(One tear drop falls onto my almost clean shirt. I never did do laundry.)
Me: Yes, baby, I love you with all my heart too.
3: Well, when you're in New York I'm not going to be sad or angry.
(I almost can't talk I'm so choked up.)
Me: That's good honey.
3: I'm just going to think about all the candy and treats you're going to bring me.
(I know he's playing me. And yet I love him for it.)
Me: That's right, honey, I am.
I drop him off at Aunt Bonnie's house. He's having the time of his life. My heart hurts.
I rush home and pack.
On the way to the airport I meet a very interesting gentleman named Norman Merrill.
He's a wonderful artist.
What an interesting adventure, and I haven't even gotten to the airport yet.
At the airport I have a lovely lunch.
Clam Chowder.
Perrier and a wedge salad.
Then I get on a plane for many hours.
Eat an airplane meal. Bleck.
Sit back and watch a movie. All the way through without interruptions. I kind of remember that. And then I have a wonderful thought........Room Service.
Arrive in New York.
And sleep.
More details please. How did you meet him on the way to the airport?
ReplyDeleteWell, he was actually my driver. He told me many wonderful stories about his life and finally about his art. I told him about my blog and asked if I could talk about him and put some of his artwork up. He graciously agreed.
ReplyDeleteYou ate that at LAX? Or Bob Hope? Why do I only find cold Burger King?
ReplyDeletewell hello fellow cardboard box lover. I've seen you on Twitter but never followed my way to your blog and here I am. What a great little adventure!! The art is very cool.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're in Burbank. And I'm in West LA. Should be be BFFs? I guess the Sepulveda Pass will most likely prevent that. :-)
See you around....
Lee
Oh and I kinda know Smacksy up there - kinda - maybe you guys already are BFFs.
:-)
Wendi, you are hilarious. I ate that at LAX. Waiting to get on Virgin Airlines.
ReplyDeleteLee! We could totally be BFF's! I am indeed bestees with Smacksy. She is amazing and I would not be writing at all if it weren't for her support and guidance! How do you feel about candle making? I don't do that either, just wondering.
